Various fresh-cut vegetable products are being recalled from the marketplace due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

People should not consume and distributors, retailers and foodservice establishments such as hotels, restaurants, cafeterias, hospitals, and nursing homes, should not sell or use the recalled products listed here, which have been sold nationally.

Additionally, Sobeys Inc. is recalling Compliments brand fresh-cut vegetable products from the marketplace due to a risk of the same form of Listeria contamination.

The following products have been sold in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador:

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of any of these products at this time. Still, you should check to see if you have the recalled products in your home or establishment. If you do, they should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.

If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, call your doctor.

Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness.

Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. Although infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn, or even stillbirth.

In severe cases of illness, people may die.

This recall was triggered by CFIA test results. The agency is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products. If this is the case, the public will be notified through updated Food Recall Warnings.
