While Environment Canada issued a special weather statement on Monday due to Wednesday’s unsettled weather, the statement was updated on Tuesday to reflect more snow… a lot more snow.

According to Environment Canada’s latest statement, a “winter storm” is likely Wednesday and Wednesday night.

“Snow is expected to begin near midnight before becoming heavy Wednesday afternoon. Heavy snow will continue through Wednesday evening before tapering to flurries overnight,” said the statement.

“There remains much uncertainty regarding the track of this low, but total snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 cm are possible by Thursday morning.”

Expect the weather to impact driving during rush hour on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Weather Network

“Both the Wednesday morning and evening commute will be impacted, but it’s the evening commute that will be the most challenging as snowfall rates will really pick up through the afternoon hours,” said Weather Network meteorologist Kevin MacKay.

The Weather Network is calling for a potential of 20+ cm of snow  the region through Thursday.

Wednesday’s high is expected to reach 0°C, with it dipping to -2°C in the evening.

But either way, it will be a snowy mess.
