If you haven’t been outside yet, put on the snow gear, as the city is expecting up to 25 cm by Thursday morning.

Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning on Tuesday that remains in effect.

“Snow is expected to continue today and will become heavy this afternoon. Heavy snow will continue through tonight before tapering to a few flurries Thursday morning,” reads the warning.

“Additionally, strong snow squalls with heavy snow and blowing snow are expected to develop Thursday afternoon east of Lake Huron and may extend into the Golden Horseshoe. These snow squalls will likely continue through Friday.”

The weather agency also warns that whiteout conditions are likely with these snow squalls.

“Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas,” says Environment Canada.

Looking at the hourly breakdown, snow is likely throughout the day, getting heavy around the evening rush hour.

Environment Canada is forecasting 5 cm during the day, then another 10 to 15 cm this evening.

The snow is also expected to continue through to Thursday.

It will be 0°C on Wednesday, dropping to -5°C later this evening with heavy snow.

The Weather Network said that this “major snowstorm threatens as much as 40 cm over parts of Ontario through Thursday.” Meaning, Toronto isn’t getting the worst of the snowstorm.

Those driving to or from work Wednesday should plan accordingly.

Toronto Police are advising drivers to take extra time while driving today.

“Go slow when you see snow,” they said.
